In addition to True RMS current and voltage measurements, the CM82’s VFD Mode leverages a low-pass filter that ensures accuracy even when distorted waveforms exist on electronic loads (such as VFD-controlled equipment).
Power quality testing and load studies (to plan for future system-wide capacity) demands essential power measurement capabilities that set the FLIR CM82 power clamp meter apart from other test equipment. Measure power up to 600kW as well as Total Harmonic Distortion and harmonics to the 25th harmonic helping you find problems that could cause the malfunctioning, damage or failure of important components.
The fast-responding in-rush current mode enables the meter to display the highest current reading in the first 100 milliseconds after the trigger point. This capability is ideal for getting to the root cause of nuisance tripping, spurious resets and transients.
The FLIR CM82 delivers on the value of added safety with a built in Non-Contact Voltage Detector and a built-in worklight. The non-contact voltage detector allows you to quickly and conveniently check for voltage prior to attaching the clamp meter’s test leads to the device under test—all without reaching for a separate voltage pen. This clamp meter also features a super-bright, dual-LED worklight that illuminates dark or poorly-lit work areas without the use of a flashlight.

About the CM82
With its rugged design, the FLIR CM82 clamp meter offers both safety and versatility without compromising high performance. Take the CM82 amp probe on every job as it delivers with advanced meter functions including True RMS accuracy, VFD filter mode, Power Quality Mode (THD, harmonics, watts, phase rotation) AC/DC current and voltage measurement, resistance, capacitance, frequency, diode-test, and continuity check. Use the fast-responding peak hold function to capture inrush currents and transients.
The 4-digit, 4,000 count display is LED-illuminated making it bright and easy to read from anywhere. Several one-button functions including data hold, min/max, and selectable auto- or manual-ranging. A relative function helps you “zero out” the meter. The large 1.45″ (37mm) jaw opening handles conductors up to 1000 MCM.
The FLIR CM82 amp clamp has a CAT IV-600V, CAT III-1000V overvoltage safety rating. NIST certification is available for this product.
