If you're looking for an accurate and reliable loop impedance tester, the CEM DT-5301 is the perfect choice. This tester is microprocessor controlled for maximum accuracy, with three LEDs that indicate correct wiring status. The LOOP impedance measurement range of 2000Ω is carried out with low test current (15mA), meaning you can get an accurate reading without worrying.

The KEW 6516/ KEW 6516BT Multi-Function tester has eight test functions in one instrument.

Continuity test

Insulation resistance test

Loop impedance test (High current measurement, No trip (ATT) measurement) 4 Prospective short circuit current test (On Loop impedance function)

RCD test

Voltage test

Phase rotation test 8 Earth test

The KEW 6516 tester incorporates Anti Trip Technology (ATT) which electronically bypasses RCDs when performing loop impedance tests. This saves time and money by not having to take the RCD out of the circuit during testing and is a safer procedure to follow.

With the ATT function enabled, a test of 15mA or less is applied between line & earth. It enables loop impedance measurements without tripping RCDs rated at 30mA and above.

ATT supports measurements using three wires: Line, Earth, and Neutral and also two wires: Line and Earth.

Continuity Measurement
With the Kyoritsu 6016 Multi Function Electrical Tester continuity testing can be carried out by use of the test button lockdown feature. A selectable buzzer gives instantaneous indication of continuity. Null facility eliminates the test lead resistance from the results, the nulled value is retained even if the instrument is switched off. Live circuit warnings are given by a flashing LED, buzzer and indication on the display.

Insulation Measurement
The Kyoritsu 6016 Multi Function Electrical Tester has three selectable test voltages 250V, 500V and 1000V. An auto-discharge function ensures that circuits are not hazardous after testing. A red LED gives warning of high voltage output during testing and discharging of the circuit. In case of connecting to a live circuit, a live circuit warning is given by flashing LED, buzzer and indication on the display.

Loop Impedance Measurement
The Kyoritsu 6016 Multi Function Electrical TesterA patented (ATT) low current loop impedance test enables high accuracy loop measurements and quick testing without tripping RCD’s.
A high current alternative is selectable for even higher accuracy and instantaneous results. The subsequent test will default to the low current test, this saves any inadvertent tripping of the RCD. The KEW 6016 allows also for phase to phase loop tests.

PSC / PFC Measurement
The Prospective Short Circuit Current (PSC) and Prospective Fault Current (PFC) are automatically calculated and shown on the display. As loop testing, the function has low and high test current options with the default to low current to avoid inadvertent tripping of RCDs.

RCD Measurement
The KEW 6016 has a comprehensive RCD test feature for RCD type AC (Alternative Currents), RCD type A (Pulsating Direct Currents), General and Selective (delayed).
Measures at 1/2x, 1x, 5x of nominal RCD current. It also has Ramp Test and Auto test where all results are shown on one screen. Touch voltage limit can be selected for 25V or 50V depending on application

Earth Measurement
Using the classical Volt-Amper method with two auxiliary earth spikes and without external power source. All test leads and spikes are supplied as standard accessories.

Phase rotation
KEW 6016 can check the phase rotation of three phase lines with clear indication of the sequence on the display.

Voltage Measurement
In addiction to the voltage measurement, this function gives also the Frequency of the voltage under test.

The Kyoritsu 4118A is a digital loop impedance tester that is able to measure prospective short current (PSC). Designed to comply with an IP54 rating, the 4118A is comprised of a custom microprocessor to achieve high accuracy and reliability.

Where the loop resistance of an earth circuit is too high and in the event of an overload or short circuit it is possible that that circuit breakers or earth leakage devices may become inoperative. To prevent such incidents, the earth circuit resistance must be measured to ensure it is sufficiently low.

SEW 8025LP Earth fault loop impedance testing

Earth fault loop impedance is the path followed by fault current when a low impedance fault occurs between the phase conductor and earth, i.e. “earth fault loop”. Fault current is driven round the loop by the supply voltage. The higher the impedance, the lower the fault current will be and the longer it will take for the circuit protection to operate.

To make sure the protection operates fast enough, the loop impedance must be low. Every circuit must be tested to make sure that the actual loop impedance does not exceed that specified for the protective device concerned.

Prospective short circuit current (PSC) testing

The prospective short circuit or fault current at any point in an electrical installation is the current that would flow in the circuit if no circuit protection operated and a complete (very low impedance) short circuit occurred. The value of this fault current is determined by the supply voltage and the impedance of the path taken by the fault current. Measurement of PSC can be used to check that protective devices within the system will operate within safety limits and as per the safe design of the installation. PSC is normally measured between the phase and neutral.
