R&S ZNH Handheld Vector Network Analyzer

Maintaining the operation of RF communications systems requires fast identification of any defects in the system components. The R&S ZNH is a multifaceted handheld vector network analyzer that helps on-site field engineers remedy defective components detected in the system.

The basic version of the R&S ZNH can perform one-port cable and antenna measurements and four S-parameter measurements up to 26.5 GHz.

With the addition of the power meter, pulse measurement, wave ratio and wave quantities functionalities, the R&S ZNH enables field engineers to maintain and restore radar and satellite systems quickly.

Simple to Operate

The ZNH offers flexible and straightforward operation. Depending on the application, it can be operated either via its 7″ capacitive touchscreen (no display calibration required) or the keypad. The touchscreen enables users to adjust the most common settings, such as parameter settings, and manage markers with smartphone-like gestures.

The inbuilt measurement wizard simplifies measurements by automating, standardizing and optimizing test sequences. A sequence of standardized, recurring measurements can be performed quickly and easily. The proven wizard function helps eliminate human error and supports the user in making correct measurements from the start.

Simple and fast setup with configuration overview menu The analyzer can be operated with the keys and rotary knob and with the touchscreen. The keys are large and well spaced out. This makes the analyzer ideal for operation with gloves.

The R&S SMCV100B vector signal generator is the first multistandard platform for automotive, broadcast,
navigation and wireless applications. This makes the R&S SMCV100B unique for use in many applications, from the lab to production and wherever different technologies meet.

The Rohde & Schwarz SMCV100B vector signal generator features a new direct RF DAC concept for RF signal generation. This concept enables I/Q modulation and upconversion in the digital domain, which eliminates the I and Q imbalance errors and LO leakage associated with traditional analog I/Q modulators.

The R&S SMCV100B options concept is fully software defined. No hardware options are required to obtain full nstrument functionality. This software concept applies to upgrading the RF frequency, memory, I/Q modulation bandwidth and all other R&S SMCV100B options for other applications.

Powerful Internal Baseband Generator

The R&S SMCV100B provides powerful hardware for internal baseband signal generation. The R&S SMCV100B either generates signals in real time in FPGAs or it uses the ARB generator to directly generate I/Q signals for digital communications standards. The R&S WinIQSIM2™ signal simulation software can also be used to generate I/Q signals.

Real-time signal generation in FPGAs is especially used for broadcast standards. This technological approach enables continuous and very long uninterrupted signal generation with different data content (audio, video, data, PRBS) for decoding. Such long sequences are required for testing the performance or EMC of tuners.

5″ Touch Display in a 2 HU Instrument

The high-resolution 5″ touch display and clearly structured block diagram user interface enable simple and intuitive operation at all times. The user instantly sees the signal flow in the R&S SMCV100B as well as the states of the instrument inputs and outputs. An integrated graphic function displays the generated signal in real time.

The R&S ZNLE makes vector network analyzer measurements as easy as ABC: easy to configure, easy to
calibrate, easy to measure. The renowned high-quality design, an innovative user interface and its compact
size make the R&S ZNLE ideal for basic VNA applications.

The R&S ZNLE is a two-port vector network analyzer that can be used for bidirectional measurements of S-parameters S11, S21, S12 and S22 on passive components.

Configuring the R&S ZNLE requires only three decisions:
1. Choose the frequency range
2. Decide whether you need a GPIB interface
3. Decide whether you need to perform time domain analysis or distance-to-fault measurements

The analyzer is available with a frequency range of 100 kHz to 3 GHz (R&S ZNLE3 with R&S ZNLE-B100
option), 100 kHz to 4.5 GHz (R&S ZNLE4 with R&S ZNLE-B100 option) or 100 kHz to 6 GHz (R&S ZNLE6
with R&S ZNLE-B100 option). The optional GPIB interface lets you connect a controller to remotely control the
R&S ZNLE.

As a standalone instrument, the R&S ZNLE does not require an external PC to configure the setup. You can start measuring immediately after you switch on the instrument. The time domain analysis option (R&S ZNL-K2) and distance-to-fault measurements option (R&S ZNL-K3) enhance the R&S ZNLE with essential features for general purpose testing.

Key features

R&S ZNL Vector Network Analyzer

Measuring equipment for RF applications must satisfy high quality standards. Instruments should be easy to use and offer high versatility. Fast measurements and reliable performance are crucial.

The R&S ZNL meets these challenges and offers even more: it combines the functionality of a vector network analyzer, a spectrum analyzer and a power meter in a single, compact box.

With frequency ranges from 5 kHz to 3 GHz, 4.5 GHz or 6 GHz, the R&S ZNL is well suited for RF component tests
in industrial electronics and wireless communications.

Responding to constantly changing measurement needs in diverse environments, e.g. on test benches or production lines, can be challenging. The R&S ZNL helps to reduce investment costs as it offers a unique option concept. The base unit can be extended with a fully integrated spectrum analyzer 1). The R&S ZNL can also be used
as an RF power meter with the appropriate option.

The R&S ZNL can simultaneously displays vector network analysis and spectrum analysis measurements on its 10.1″ multitouch screen. Clear menu structures and numerous wizards make measurements convenient to configure.
