The Drummond MTL10 gives safe indication of voltage between 50V and 500V AC and 50V to
750V DC.

The robust design meets the recommendations of the Health and Safety Executive in their guidance notes on the electrician’s test lamp (GS38) as well as complying with BS EN61243-3 and BS EN61010, CAT III 1000V and CAT IV 600V.

Both the lamp housing and the probe have a finger shield and insulated probe tip with only 4mm of exposed metal. A two layer double insulated cable with white inner insulation gives a clear warning of abrasion that might compromise the user’s safety, and is resistant against heat and oil. To enable use in most circumstances, a right angled probe tip is supplied in addition to the two straight tips.

For maximum ease of use, the right angled probes can be rotated through 90, 180 and 270 degrees. Four distinct bands of illumination, with a 360° viewing angle, provide indication of voltages above 50, 120, 230 and 400 volts even in bright sunlight. This allows accurate identification of potentially lethal voltages above 50V and enables the user to distinguish between 110V, 230V and phase to phase voltages in a 3 phase system.

The new Drummond MTL20 test lamp safe voltage indication from 50 – 500V AC / DC. In addition to the MTL10, the new model MTL20 incorporates two test buttons, one on the body of the unit and one on the probe. Simultaneous depression of both buttons enables the unit to draw a high current, allowing the user to differentiate between phantom voltages and hazardous persistent voltages. Safe electrical working requires the use of a voltage indicator that has been proven with a suitable proving device before and after use so to ensure the instrument is working correctly.

The Martindale PD690SX has all the capabilities of the standard PD690S proving unit plus a unique CALCHECK feature for verifying the performance of installation testers and 5 stepped voltage thresholds matched to common two pole tester thresholds.

The CALCHECK feature makes it easy to verify the insulation and low resistance ranges on multifunction instruments and single function insulation testers on-site. This makes it ideal for identifying potential calibration issues with a multifunction tester prior to certifying a new wiring installation.

It’s easy to keep a record of periodic CALCHECK results and equipment serial numbers for assessments using the form in the user guide or downloading copies from this page.  The individual reference resistance test pads with nominal values of 0.5Ωand 1.0Ω for continuity measurements and 0.5MΩ and 1.0MΩ for insulation resistance make it simple to check and identify calibration drift and remain confident in your test results wherever you are working.

The proving unit output voltages are stepped with individual LED indicators for each voltage threshold from 50V to 690V matched to common two pole tester thresholds, ideal for identifying potential voltage tester calibration issues.

On contact, the proving unit outputs the highest voltage first instantaneously checking all LEDs up to 690V on the tester and proving the tester for safe isolation use, it then steps down through each level automatically.

At the end of the proving test, a low resistance appears across the terminals to verify the continuity function of two pole testers.
